Received a check for $305.00 for the second one.
This is the third of four professionally cast bronze plates donated by George Lavacot.

The third one is now on eBay.

Starting bid this time is $200.00.

Proceeds less shipping go to The RGRPC for urgent shop work.

Bid and be generous!

I see this as a rare oppurtunity and a chance to help out a great cause.

If this were a real builders plate, what would it be worth?

(Yes, from a scrapped locomotive. We all know if you have a plate from a locomotive that still is around, and you're not the caretaker, it's bad karma to you!)

Bad karma to you is right (whoever you are!!) The builder's plate for our UP1011 sold on eBay last fall for over $300.00. In a response to inquiry as to it's "origins" by myself, the seller (in California, but interestingly with a family name common to this area??) claimed to have purchased it at a railroadiana show in the late 1970's. Funny that we have people on the property that remember the plate being "in place" in the late 1980's. My understanding is that UP1011 was donated direct--not going through any broker's hands. Theft is theft and a pox on the lot!

Venting is occasionally good for the soul but I'll get off my soapbox, we're building new open air cars next week...
