Certainly not too surprising. Lots and lots of businesses in Southeastern Massachusetts are for sale right now, and nobody is buying. It is getting so bad that they are demolishing some of the older commercial buildings in the area that have been vacant for several years. Carver may also be within the "value capture" area for Southcoast Rail, which may impose new taxes on local businesses in an effort to recover the substantial per-rider losses expected by the commuter service. Reference page 96 of the Southcoast Rail development study.
