From Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Note language about rehabing a bridge. Does this mean I will no longer have to lift my feet while passing over the Strasburg's one and only trestle? http://www.progressiverailroading.com/news/article/Pennsylvania-DOT-ponies-up-325-million-for-38-freightrail-projects--25042 Dave Crosby |

As someone who's been to this bridge (with permission, as it's on private property), I can say that this little farm-access overpass is one of the quaint little charms of this line that still is more of a time capsule than the crossings. I always wanted to do a photo charter stop here with a steam tractor or other old equipment underneath. But as a bridge guy as well, I must say that given the abutments the last time I saw them, this is a sorely-needed rehabilitation. [goes off in hopes of finding the slides from that last visit, during the snow to boot....] |

Should the money be allocated before winter one would assume that rehab would take place during the off season months and during winter. It would only be reasonable that it should happen then, unless freight is still an issue. Then what? |
