I know others are playing the UP game, but....

I'm stuck at #2...trying to get to #1 on the UP Leaderboard. (That Steamroller dude is good!)

If you haven't signed up yet to the UP Excurison Adventure... please help me by clicking here:

THANKS and good luck to all!

P.S. Note: Once you sign up.. you can continue to vote for your home town. Once the votes are tabulated, the UP Steam Team will chart several routes based on the winning or most popular votes. THEN... the real voting begins to vote for your favorite route from what they came up with. For now.. just sign up by clicking my link to help me. Then vote for your town everyday and we will soon see where the train goes! THANKS!

I will be flamed/banned for saying this but......shouldn't this kind/type of post be on TO and not here? So many reads and no posts? Perhaps everyone is thinking the same thing. Ignore it and it will go away. Well I have had about enough of it (not just this topic) and I must say a few words. If you really need a pat on the back and votes, I'm sure the rail fan sites would be more suited for this type of context. We all deal with enough spam and click this and click that on a daily basis using technology that I don't feel this is needed or warranted here. The Colfax group and the Pepsi Challenge is a different thing, in that the group may win funds if they get enough votes. I try and remember surf to the Pepsi site and to sign in and vote for them every day. With this UP program and the prizes for the top votes for the route, that is an individual getting a prize which I feel is totally not relevant to this board or preservation i.e. who cares where it runs, be happy that it does. This is all for the gain of a certain individual which I believe is not proper on this forum. Are we really here to preserve 2 tickets (plus airfare and lodging) for you and a friend if you win?
Just my thoughts and no harm meant.

Please don't take away my Happy Meal toy.

Rob,

No offense taken. I agree with most of what you are saying. I figure it's a genuine railroad steam promotion. Yes, only 5 will win and they win personally. But at the same time, it's a community that helps them win and the community votes to pick the route the train will take (when the steam team posts them) and that community is rail based. Therefore, I'm ask the rail community to help me win and watch my progress to see if I'm successful or not. Also they can continue to vote for their favorite town.

Why post here? This is one of the places where I read about rail based projects and announcements or learn what's happening around the steam industry. Ultimately, this contest is unusual in the way it's being promoted and to read about someone who is playing it and seeing if they are winning or not may be entertaining. Then again... maybe not.

I will promise you this. I'll only post once a week during the contest if that will help. I would like to share my progress and attract new referrals if someone is still sitting on the fence. Should the moderator decide enough is enough... I will honor it. Fair enough?
