Chances are someone will view this as old news, but it was a new discovery for me--the Pullman collection of linen drawings at the Newberry Library:

The Newberry Library is a wonderful resource of information, a private library on the near north side of Chicago. The Pullman Collection includes both original linens and blueprints of Pullman passenger cars as noted, also among many records includes those papers of Robert Todd Lincoln, son of President Abraham Lincoln, as president of Pullman Car Works at the turn of the century. Pullman rebuild information of the "betterment cars" from the original 1920's cars to the 1930's modernized heavy weight air conditioned cars is also there, though we too have floor plans for many of them.
At the Illinois Railway Museum's Pullman Library there is a very large collection of floor, elevation, ceiling and flooring diagrams also in the "B" series of original linen drawings. Other, smaller collections exist including some at the California State Railroad Museum's library. As a totally volunteer effort we try to keep up with the requests but if you do not hear right away please resend the request. Note also that our costs of the self sustaining operation are significant and as we survive on those orders for drawing and document copies, our time is precious ... please be brief and specific to your needs. Current events: The Haskell and Barker (Michigan City IN) freight car collection of thousands of drawings, 1898 to 1922 is being removed from the dead storage in archival drawing tubes and is being relocated to large file drawers for availability to historians and model makers, occupying 1/3 of our time! Want a poultry car set of drawings anyone for the Kosher NY trade? We have supplied critical drawings for the the restoration of the the 1890's WP caboose at the Western Railway Museum from these and are certain to find many more gems as the collation proceeds, thanks in large part to Dennis Storzak and the Soo Line Historical Society for support.
