(From KCSnotes)The Kansas City, Fort Smith & Southern Railway Company was a shortline running from Joplin, Missouri, to Sulphur Springs, Arkansas, when it was acquired by the growing KCP&G in 1893. It would become part of the KCS main line. The KCFS&S had been built by a Wyandotte Indian entrepreneur named Matthias Splitlog.

Can anyone tell us anything about what became of Splitlog's private railcar named BIRD IN HAND, which was purportedly decorated with gold leaf?

Try the Passenger Car List on Yahoo.
There is a wealth of info there.
