Post subject:  Moving brick roundhouses

I am trying to find information for an individual who is looking to move a five stall brick roundhouse and attached buildings. I'm not at liberty to say where this is, but the person is looking for technical and costing information to see if the project might be worth the effort.

Is there anybody associated with the work going on in moving the SP roundhouse and interlocking tower in the San Jose area? Or any sites with technical information on moving large square footage brick walled buildings?

Thanks in advance.

Michael,
Our organization, the California Trolley and Railroad Corporation, is responsible for the rebuilding of the 6 stall Lenzen Roundhouse at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds in San Jose. Unfortunately, that effort has been delayed due to bonding restrictions place by the county on our pro-bono contractors. Hopefully, negotiations will resolve this impasse.

The deconstruction occurred nearly two years ago in anticipation of a new maintenance yard for Caltrain. The work was performed by a local contractor in accordance with specificiations from the historic preservation commission within the city of San Jose. Literally, the work was performed "brick by brick." Ironically, the project manager for the deconstruction effort is our pro bono, architect/project manager for the reconstruction.

Email me off line for more information.
