Post subject:  Rock Island "Centennial" boxcar successfully moved Dec 2010
Folks -

I mentioned this move in the thread on RI 4-6-2 #905, and rather than hijack that thread, I thought I would start a new one.

Rock Island boxcar #21546 was successfully moved to its new home in Topeka, Kansas earlier today, 12/20/10. I have posted 3 photos to this message and hopefully, I will be able to post 3 additional photos to end the story of the move.

Photo 1 shows the car located on a farm outside of Topeka.

Photo 2 shows the car being tipped by the mover onto its side to lower the height.

Photo 3 shows the car loaded and being moved out of the farm.

Hope this is of interest to some.

To continue the story;

Photo 4 shows the trucker backing RI 21546 into its new home.

Photo 5 shows the car on the ground there.

Photo 6 shows the car sitting in front of the restored Rock Island Elmont depot, which is a preservation story in its own right.
