The upcoming close of the year has me pondering what project(s) are most promising for the coming year. Here's my three, what's yours?

The Norfolk Southern steam program. I am anxious to see how this will develop and glad to see a partnership with TVRM.
The "DL&W" F units. With a B unit on the horizon, it will be great to see this set on the road. I've often thought a sound business plan would be to have a set of F units and paint them in different schemes every few years.
Steamtown. 26 and 3713 are progressing and hopefully 26 will be live in 2011. The asbestos abatement is coming along, and even if none of these engines see a match again, their future is all the more secure. The DL&W 565 project has made great strides, and perhaps this will lead to other private-NPS partnerships.

Best wishes for a wonderful holiday season and prosperous 2011!

Joshua

End of March 2011 will be the 30th anniversary of the first steam-up, of the first restoration of #26, then Jackson Iron and Steel #3, at Jackson, Ohio.

Hopefully, Lobato trestle will be rebuilt in time for Cumbres & Toltec's 2011 season.

Joshua - There is a new agreement with Steamtown that will allow the DL&W 663 and 664 to see operation in 2011. The B unit will join the A units however as the ARHS project manager I can tell you it is not planned for the B unit to be operational in 2011 and only a very slim chance for it to be painted to match the A units. It needs considerable electrical and cosmetic work. Look for it in 2012.
Meanwhile Scranton will continue to offer other unique diesels starting with an operational fully painted CNJ RS3 which will be followed by other surprises.

In 2011 The Youngstown Steel Heritage Foundation has set these goals:

1. Moving Armco B-71, the Westinghouse Visibility Cab Oil-Electric, from the Minnesota Transportation Museum to Youngstown, OH for a full mechanical and cosmetic restoration.

2. Completion of the relocation of a 26" x 54" x 48" Westinghouse Corliss stationary steam engine (built in the same plant as the B-71 25 years previous) to the Tod Engine Heritage Park.

3. Increase public awareness of the organization in our area with a goal of recruiting 100 new members by the end of the year.
