| Post subject: | The EMD 25th Anniversary Open House |
We have occasionally talked about the impressive engine display at the EMD 25th Anniversary Open House in 1947, including the F3 locomotive machinery set that was displayed on a skid without the locomotive, and the many locomotive components that were also displayed, some of them in inclined racks to facilitate viewing. It is difficult to describe a display of this type just in words, so this week I had a little time and was able to get a couple shots of the floor display with all the Diesel and gas engines posted on the tugboat enthusiasts society website. It was easier for me to do it this way since I manage the site for the group and can post directly to it, and EMD was a major marine engine builder as well as a locomotive builder. Somewhere in my files I have close-up views of the inclined trucks, the roof hatch in the holding fixture, and the F3 machinery mounted on the skid. When I get a chance to locate them I will try to get them posted. So here it is, for those of you who may be interested. Some good ideas on how to display equipment and components of locomotives: http://tugboatenthusiastsociety.org/Pag ... D-25TH.htm PC |
