Its my understanding that back in the day, CNR 6167 was quite a popular engine with the railfan community. Since the summer I have been conducting research into 6167's history as an excursion engine from 1960 through 1964. During that time I have gathered a great deal of information on these trips and have put together a list detailing the date, origin and destination, and sponsor of each trip. I have also added a number of programs, flyers and brochures for a number of these trips, as well as photos. While the Upper Canada Railway Society was the sponsor for most trips, the Buffalo and Rochester Chapters of the NRHS sponsored 6, while the Michigan Railroad Club sponsored also sponsored 6 trips. All of this info has been posted here: http://www.trainweb.org/j.dimech/6167/excursions.html |

Joe, maybe you have already done it, but have you asked Grant Love for any information like this? When I was working on 6167 in 1985, he was the one that seemed to have the encyclopedic knowledge of this engine. Brian Hume |

I have talked to Grant Love, and he even gave all of his files. But there wasn't really much in them on 6167, although he did have lots of neat bits and bites on 6060. |

Another respectable update to my CNR 6167 excursion research project. I created new pages for an October 6, 1962 deadhead movement from Spadina to Sarnia, featuring a photo from Jim Brown. I also a created a page for the September 30, 1962 excursion featuring a brochure from Don McQueen and numerous photos from Doug Wingfield, who also provided photos for the October 15, 1961, and June 20, 1964 trips. Ken Kraemer also provided me with another photo of the September 27, 1964 doubleheader with 6218. Jim Parker has provided me with a group of photos taken by Frank Smeltzer of the October 7, 1962 excursion including one of CNR 6069 outside the Stratford Shops. Finally I've also confirmed that 6167 was used on a May 4, 1963excursion and have added photos from Doug Leffler and Don McQueen.<p> |
