Hi to all

Until you have done something like this (and many of you have) you wont understand how exciting it is to be relieved of the tedious monotony that is paint stripping moldings, and wood in general and actually apply varnish to a section. These are the results of the last few weeks of stripping 14 layers of paint and varnish, its all worth while and unless you turn around and look at the 49 feet behind you. you could kid yourself that you are almost done !
This picture is of Vent panel No 1 from car 57 order no 1452 (thanks Pullman for your wonderful parts stamping)

Here are a couple of comparison shots, todays work included installing the restored Gents ceiling and wall panelling, good to compare shots two years apart !

When you say "varnish", Mike, what actual material are you using?

Hi Bob
How is your project coming along?
I am using Varathane polyurethane varnish on the wood.

Mike

Mike,
My baby's coming along well. I've just finished fabricating two corridor walls for the Gents' washroom (aka "Lavatory".) I must update my fotopic site, but I'm a bit discouraged because no matter what I do, I can't get the photos in chronological order!
I guess you need to use a clear finish to protect the old lettering. In my case, there was none of that and as everything was french polished, that's what I've done.
How did you manage to unearth that lettering without damaging it in the process?
Cheers, Bob
