I am co-chair of the committee that is planning this dinner. We may get close to 100 attendees, and this news article is a fitting tribute to a humble man who thoroughly documented the region at his own expense for most of his life. The printed article made page one of the Sunday paper... not too shabby. During the cocktail reception, we will have photos of him and his family taken by friends and Ed himself through his life. After a few tribute speeches, we will view some newly discovered film that John Pechulis transferred to video. Not only was Ed a steady cameraman on this 8mm footage, but he captured the wild and wacky nature of the streetcar lines of the Wilkes-Barre Railway. Some portions of the WB system are comparable to amusement park rides with their elevated lines and hairpin turns. They make the Scranton system seem pretty dull, just staying on pavement and all. |
