| Post subject: | NEED HELP PRESERVING LOCOMOTIVE HISTORY |
HI All, I run a labor of love called The Railroad Data Exchange. The purpose is to preserve copies of diagram/class books, track charts and other similar materials. This has been ongoing for over thirty years now with the simple concept of give something get something, and if you need something and dont have anything, contribute when you do. A couple of years ago I decided to put a portion of the collection to use and create an all time N American steam loco database. Basically if it was built here or ran here we want to document its life from the erection floor to the scrappers torch, city park etc. Though I have extensive collections of steam loco diagram & class books, rosters, builders lists etc there are many huge holes that need filling. If anyone has any rosters or diagram/class books the would be willing to copy or scan or let me borrow (I keep nothing borrowed longer than 2 weeks) and would be willing to contribute to our efforts you can only make a good thing better. We are a true non profit. We dont sell anything and all cost comes from our pockets. I have helped many on this list and others over time and will always continue to do so. I need your help now to make this something the likes of have never been seen before. Always glad to send a copy of the collection list as an Excel workbook file. Please contact me offlist at raildata@yahoo.com Thank you for any help anyone can provide. Our goal is to get the best most accurate data available and at some point have a searchable database up for use. I know many out there have researched small obscure long forgotten roads and their inclusion is as important as a large class I if not more so. Please feel free to contact me at any time to discuss our project or if I can help your work in some way. Allen Stanley Railroad Data Exchange Greer, SC |
