Rather than further distort the existing posting asking about displays relating to the social impact of railroads, here are a few topics that relate in various ways to railroad history, railroad operations, or equipment restoration, or museum display preparation. Some of them are a little bit unconventional. Have any of your museums ever hosted or considered hosting an event of this kind?

A display about one particular aspect of relatively modern railroad operation, like commuter rail, distributed power, or double stacks.

An event specifically directed toward modern equipment or motive power, with manufacturers or industry suppliers taking part? (Yes, we asked this question once before and I thank everyone who participating in answering).

A display featuring a particularly obscure aspect of railroad industry activity, like railroad marine operations?

A clinic on how to use Microsoft PowerPoint in preparing presentations and printed material in support of displays?

A class on how to read physical schematic wiring diagrams for diesel electric locomotives?

All of these seem to me to fit within the scope of railroad history that is appropriate for a railroad museum to feature, or within the supporting activites relating to preservation and the preparation of exhibits. Those who do not agree please feel free to find fault. If you oppose any of these for some reason please tell us why.

While it is not formally interpreted, VMT's location at the east throat of NS's Roanoke Yard results in visitors seeing double stacks and distributed power in action quite frequently. VMT also has a very nice display on the contributions of African-American Railroaders.

National Capital has hosted Transit Progress Day where we have had contemporary exhibits by Metrobus and Ride-on bus (county transit), including a LNG bus when those busses were new.
