Today I got junk mail having to do with services for start up businesses the odd thing is it was addressed to the F40PH Preservation Society, now I haven't listed my address anywhere. The only way they could know this is if my incorporation was accepted and my information was put online on the incorporation papers. I ran to my computer went to the mass.gov site and found the F40PH Preservation Society had officially been incorporated in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, it is interesting I had to learn this through junk mail and not a official letter from the state. next move will be to file with the IRS 501(c)(3).

If it's F40s you're looking for, LTEX in Ohio has about 20 of them. Most are hulks, but maybe 6-8 seem complete. All are stenciled 'Chicago'

I reckon I would be interested in chatting about a group like this. The English are VERY good at starting preservation societies aimed at one loco type. Often they will own several locos and have them at different museums/ tourist railways depending on member locations etc. This one is definately worth pursueing BEFORE the F40PH is a lost cause.

With Metra rebuilding its F40PH's they should be around a long time unless the recently publicized pollution issue changes it.

On a distantly related note I think there's an F40C at NRE Dixmoor.

I believe Metra still has two F40C's in occasional use-- maybe in active use right now with the F40PH's undergoing rebuild.

Now does seem like a good time to start getting these locos together while you can pick and choose. The F40C would seem to me to be a close enough cousin to fit under the umbrella of this group. Not that my opinion counts for much!!!
