PENNDOT ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL ENHANCEMENT PROJECTS APPROVED BY STATE TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION: A list of transportation enhancements issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation on April 25 was incomplete and missing 32 projects that had been approved that day by the state Transportation Commission. Railroad related projects include:
Construct a quarter roundhouse to provide for the care and protection of the official state steam locomotive and other parts of the collection of the Altoona Railroaders Memorial Museum, $1.6 million, the Altoona Railroaders Memorial Museum.
Re-grading and improvements to the five-mile multi-use, Corry Rail/Trail, $90,000, Northwest Pennsylvania Trail Association.
Construction of the 12-mile Sheepskin Rail/Trail from Uniontown to Dunbar, $375,000, Fayette County Planning and Zoning and Community Development; Acquire a 2.5-mile railroad corridor for the Lebanon Valley Rails-to- Trails Phase 4, $61,000, Lebanon Valley Rails-to-Trails Inc.
Design and installation of an interpretive history and visitors center in the former Western Maryland Railroad Station, $128,000, Meyersdale Area Historical Society.
