April 1, 2011 WILLIAMS, AZ- Popular tourist attraction "Grand Canyon Railway" announced its' plans to rebuild and upgrade one of their most popular pieces of equipment. Steam locomotive #4960 went through a two million dollar restoration in 1996, and was and still is regarded as one of the most technologically advanced steam engines in the country. Now, with a Federally mandated 1,472 day inspection coming up, the railroad has decided to not only commence another rebuild on the locomotive, but continue to upgrade to literally bring it into the future. GCRY officials have announced that new implemented technology will be installed on the 4960, which will include a Mr. Fusion nuclear accelerator, a magnetron injector, time circuits, a flux capacitor, and ditchlights. These devices will allow 4960 the ability to travel to any point in time to the Grand Canyon, long before anything was touched by mankind. A larger, air conditioned cab will allow for increased crew (as well as high paying customers) comfort when traveling through any unexpected weather conditions. The books of the former Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, the original owners of the railroad, are being carefully studied to avoid any run-ins with early 20th century trains and disrupting the space-time continuum. In addition, hover drive wheels and a rocket propelled tender will allow the large Mikado the ability to transport passenger to wherever possible, even in the Canyon itself. In addition, five former Southern Pacific heavyweights will be backdated to link with the 4960 and also be capable of hovering and time travel. The railroad estimates the equipments’ second rebuild will be completed by October of 2015, but after that point they will have all the time in the world for passenger operations. As one official said it best, “Where we’re going, we don’t need rails.” |

Presumably the work is being done by George Lucas's new company, "Industrial Locomotive and Magic" using the design from Back to the Future III? |
