Strasburg- The country's oldest railroad still operating under its original charter has made the announcement today that they will become not only the first railway in country, but also in the world to be fully centered on Thomas the Tank engine. For years, the railroad has operated Days Out With Thomas events, indeed the popularity of event has convinced them of the success of their venture. On hand already is Thomas, a former BEDT 0-6-0. Next in conversion to styling of the late Rev. W. Awdry will be former Reading 0-4-0 #1187, conveniently already torn down for rebuild. When it emerges in the summer, it will be the first Percy #6 in the states. "Its a great place to start, and it was not a unknown practice to convert center cabs to end cabs" said one employee. After Percy is complete, the decision will made to either progress with the conversion of former CPR #972 to Henry, or covert former CNR #89 to inside cylinders to replicate the popular red engine James.
