Last I had heard, the current version of the plan was to not use the two Milan cars that were purchased for the project, and now on display at both ends of the proposed line. One reason given was that the organization now wishes to have new-built cars, probably similar to the double-truck Birneys that Gomaco turns out, to enable loading on either side of the car. This would allow some flexibility, as it was stated, to place loading islands on the street. The second reason is that the cars for the project are to also be battery powered for their run into Forest Park and around the Missouri History Museum. The wires are considered "unsightly" even though, in the past Forest Park had numerous streetcar loops within its boundaries. Should be interesting to see it come together. |

My old neighborhood from college days - wish this had been there when I was. My only reservation with the plan is it is way too small in scope. dave |
