Post subject:  Williams Grove running new locomotive tomorrow

Hey all,

For those on this list that live close to South Central PA.

I know that it is very short notice, but I wanted to let anyone know
that is interested; the Williams Grove Railroad will be running it's
"new" locomotive for the first time in passenger service tomorrow,
Sunday April 10, 2011. WGRR #52 is a 1953 built 65 ton Vulcan center
cab diesel locomotive. It was acquired by the Williams Grove Historical
Steam Engine Association in December of 2010. Trains will be running
from around 8:00am till whenever the crowd from the weekly flea market
dies down (usually around 1-1:30pm.)

Even if you don't get out tomorrow please check out our new website at http://www.wgrailroad.com

Among other things the site includes this years schedule of operations for our steam locomotive, PRR B4a #643, and a few other dates we will be running #52.

Have a good weekend all!

What was the history of the Vulcan? They only built a few 65 tonners and most of those were during WWII.

I recall one that PP&L owned, b/n 4738. Is it that one?
