According to posts on NGDF, the scrapper's bid was later withdrawn when someone purchased them for preservation. Not sure what the whole story is here.

On the NGDF, Jerry Huck (I think) made a pitch to try to save these for possible use on the Sumpter Valley Railroad (which bought the four Westside flatcars that were part of the same auction. Not completely sure that the two major bidders were scrappers, but more than likely that was the case.

If you want to help the Sumpter Valley with getting these (both are real projects, but look worse than may be) drop them a line. The Montana Western car is probably the more appealing of the two, since it's virtually complete (including storm windows), whereas the BA&P car (no longer with baggage door) is a very old carbody grafted onto a steel underframe.
