Our equipment was moved from 9th St to VMT on Saturday for next weekend's "Roanoke Rail Day". 614 also left town around 7 AM for it's trip to Clifton Forge. Our crew moved our equipment to the interchange at the west end of the industrial park. An NS yard crew met us there about 8:45. The NS crew then ran to VMT, turning the consist back over to us on VMT trackage shortly after 11. Some time was spent in front of the Link Museum waiting on NS traffic to clear. The NS folks were gracious, friendly, and professional, and a pleasure to work with. The whole move went smoothly and low-key. Thanks much to NS Roanoke Terminal. Below are links to some photos on our Facebook page and a YouTube video.

If you notice in the video, the GP30 was idling and the Alco was doing all the work

I spoke to Scott Lindsay briefly today, and he echoed our sentiments. He said that the NS personnel involved with 614's move were great to work with. Below is a link to some shots Bob Lyndall took of 614's journey

Well, 614 doesn't look half bad (or 3/4 bad for that matter). Can't wait to see her running again. As for the rest of the restoration work for VMT's equipment, I wish you all the best of luck

Dylan, As far as VMT's collection, things are light-years ahead of where they were 10 years ago, both in the focus of the collection and the attention it is receiving. I expect that you will see 3-4 more pieces looking pretty within the next year. You're welcome to come down and help out (be part of the solution). VMT is now paying volunteers one Coke a day and we doubled the volunteer salary at 9th St this year.......:)

Ok. Just let me borrow Jay Leno's jet car. That's the problem with living in New England. To far from most of the great projects.

Amtrak. Get to Lynchburg and we'll arrange you a ride the rest of the way. Give us 16 hours of honest work (BS time doesn't count) and we'll even get you back to Lynchburg........:) If you want to do it, you can make it happen.
