Does anyone know what happened to, or who last owned the Okadee company and/or the parts that this company made?

I need to find the drawing sets for the cylinder cocks (& relief valves) and the smoke box door hinges.

OKADEE (valve division) was acquired by MAXON Corp. at Muncie, IN. Last June, I spoke to Michelle: 765-284-3304 looking for parts for blowdown valves (the Chinese standard blowdown valve is a copy of an OKADEE). She said that it was obsolete, no parts or drawings available. Parts had been available as recently as 1993...

Maybe they just do not want to "pull" them for you or anyone else.

If they are still around and not valued by their present owner I'll volunteer to have them cataloged and have them placed into a railroad library.

I wonder who got the "Hinge" division?

Those should be pretty simple drawings. If you have one or can find a loaner you could try taking it to your local community college or trade school and asking if they can make a CAD drawing of it for you.

I'm amazed that parts were still around in '93 for the cylinder cocks and relief valves. I never thought to check them, thinking they were long gone. They are relatively simple apparatus and I just rebuilt them with what I had for the 1522. Had no need to mess with the hinges.

Blowdown parts only were available. The ONLY route (IMHO) is to replace with modern everlasting.....which is virtually if not identical to vintage everlasting. With parts available well into the future.

Locomotive cyclopedias are a great resource for the rest.

This is kind of a shot in the dark, but Superscale does produce Okadee parts for the 1/8" scale live steam world. Perhaps they have some drawings? Here's their website: http://www.superscale.biz/Superscale2/Index.html

Probably the reason they will not release the drawings is the same reason that Fairmont railcar (HARSCo Track) will not release theirs, Liability.

If you make one of their parts using their drawings and something unintentional happens then they are legally liable even if you machine it wrong, where as if you reverse engineer one of their products the liability is entirely on you.
