Nice approach by TMNY to honor a major employer (IBM) in its region. I hope this outreach generates favorable interest in the museum. Sloan http://www.tmny.org/ |

Thanks for noticing. Any of you involved with a non-profit and within a county or two of an IBM location should be in touch with IBM to see if they can send volunteers your way. Though June 15 is the official "IBM Celebration of Service" day and will get the most attention, IBM is organizing days of service at non-profits throughout the year as they can be accommodated. Here at TMNY we're having an IBM day of service this Friday, May 20, where approx. 50 IBMers will be here. Our challenge will be to keep them all busy all day! |

This is interesting and a nice way of the company showing support for the community. There is an IBM within 20 minutes of RMNE. My father is retired from IBM and my mother still works there for an outside vendor. |

This was quite a success. Some pictures of the event are on our web site http://TMNY.org (scroll down to the What's New section). |

As a nice follow up to this, IBM today presented a $5,000 Community Service grant to TMNY. IBM for many years has had a program where IBM employees, active and retired, can apply for annual grants for either $1,000 cash or IBM equipment (usually worth a bit more than $1K) to non-profits. This year due to over 50 IBMers volunteering, we qualified for a larger cash grant. |
