News on the Indiana Railroads Bull Session website reports the demolition of the long out-of-service Hohman Avenue Tower in downtown Hammond, Indiana:

Hopefully I got the above typed correctly.

I heard from a friend in the DC area last week that CSX is planning to close what may be the last operating ex-B&O tower, WB (West Bound) in Brunswick, MD. It has hung on this long because of the activity for MARC commuter trains, as the major layover/service facility for trains operating between Martinsburg, WV and DC. The tower received a new paint job and exterior work about 5 or 6 years ago. The operator really does not physically control any of the signals or switches as far as I know. Every time I ever called him/her for permission to make a move they had to call Jacksonville (now probably Baltimore) to get them to actuate the signals and switches. So, get your photos while you can. It's a decent afternoon shot from the overflow MARC parking lot.
