Exciting new finds in the last few days culminating tonight in the amazing discovery of the ceiling artists initials on one of the lower deck ceilings, we may via the Pullman company researchers site be able to track down a family. Also the removal of trim revealed probably the best preserved piece of original pattern.
And we now believe the car had all frosted glass in the roof originally, and all the wonderful array of patterns we have (Pullman designs) are replacements, many of which date back over 100 years with replacement frames as well. Quite a few frames have had major damage where the brass loops have been ripped out with the transom pole and a new piece of Cherry inserted, so this coupled with new glass may account for the different windows.
We also may be appealing soon to raise money for a pair of excellent wooden 8'0 trucks which could be available, we will keep you posted on this rare opportunity.

That is an interesting find. So, this is an old Pullman? What does the whole thing look like anyway, I've only seen a handful of shots on the restoration

Not to shabby. Amazes me what determination and money will do for a restoration. Looks like it's missing wheels, so can I assume that getting a set is on the restoration list?

Thanks, the comment about money amuses me...we have none, no grants.... nothing just whatever kind people donate and whatever spare i have, not much at present as i am married to a unemployed RN !!
We run with about $50 in the account and try to cover our monthly lumber/hardware bill of $150.
I believe this is called shoestring budgeting
Trucks may well be closer than we expected.

Cheers

A bad phone shot showing the last bunk car wall coming down tonight, 84 years after installation by the C&S. Sad doing this but necessary to get the windows out and the original configuration right.

The wall is now gone and the huge space can be seen for the first time in 84 years. Hmm plenty more stripping yet !
