I got this tidbit from the "original" Norfolk Southern grouplist and tho not exactly preservation/museum related, it shows a success story bringing life into a short line than for many of the big lines give up on and like other shortlines found new life in the thought abandoned lines. -dinwitty- The latest CLNA Newsletter has reported some good growth along the line. Thanks to Tom for the link. -Rob ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Tom Stallings Date: 2011/6/1 Subject: CLNA Newsletter A growing shortline!! http://www.mlrail.com/CLNANewsletter.htm Tom Stallings 130 St. Lewis Road Macclesfield, NC 27852 wk: 252/827.3232 cell: 252/363.4232 |

To make it somewhat preservation related, this group has quite the collection of classic EMD power in regular service including a GP35, GP30, a former DM&IR SDm and several GP9R and GP7s. While they aren't currently preserved, it would appear that CLNA has a soft spot for older EMD power and they seem to be safe for the forseeable future. Perhaps when the time comes they might actually consider seeing these units go to a good retirement home. Kevin |
