This posting is relevant to museum operation. Volunteers should have orientation by museum leadership and legal counsel on what to say and do in the aftermath of accident.
Fake injury claims can prove problematic and cause a museum's insurance carrier quite a bit of dyspepsia.

Having had law firms as clients, I fully appreciate how creative people can be to bilk insurance companies out of liability and/or workers' comp money.

It's the standard old joke anywhere in an urban area:

Of 17 people on the bus/car at the time of the accident, 39 were taken to area hospitals and 73 filed claims against the transit company............

The first rule in most city buses after ANY accident is to lock down the bus until police, emergency personnel, and supervisors arrive.

Lost power and careened into the other? Only if he was no longer compressing air and failed to properly managed his reservoir. Even then, those Porto cars were originally equipped with dynamic braking controllers. Were they not restored with dynamics? That's a heck of a smashed platform. I will be curious to see what the accident report says. I'm guessing operator error, but then again I am just speculating.

ADM IV hit the nail on the head. An urban accident draws victims from blocks around. Sometimes they're rolling in the street in pain when the doors aren't even open on the bus or streetcar yet. Another example of how far we've slipped.

I'm thinking of visiting Memphis in a few weeks, mostly to ride the streetcars and see some musical landmarks (e.g. Sun Studios). Any suggestions, other than doing explorations in the daytime? (I don't own a pit bull or an Uzi)
