Two more nineteeth century locomotives have been put on display recently at the B&ORRM.

The 1851-vintage Pioneer is on loan from the Smithsonian. It was recently refurbished by Museum staff to be exhibited along with four B&O locomotives that were active during the Civil War period in a major new exhibit:The War Came By Train. The tiny 2-2-2 had been relegated to work train service by 1861, but was still in operation on the Cumberland Valley Railroad.

Just last week the Camel 10-wheeler, badly damaged in the 2003 roof collapse returned from the Museum's restoration shops after a major restoration, sporting its correct road number: 305. Owen Stedding's photos of the restoration process are here:

File comment: The 4-6-0 Camel is much too modern for the Civil War exhibit. It was built in 1869!

File comment: The tiny Pioneer is dwarfed even by other Civil War era locomotives
