Yes, there was a minor derailment today. A couple of wheels did come off the track. It only took a few hours and everything was back on the track. No injuries, no damage to any equipment. It was very minor, and trains are running on both days of Fathers day weekend. The section of track where it occurred is not part of our normal operating track and will not effect operations. Please understand that many people might think of a derailment as something to run and post on the internet, it's not. Minor derailments happen at museums and shortlines all the time and if each one was posted here we would all be so tired of hearing about it. There are other railfan sites that fill that spot on the internet. Tom Gears Moderator |

I'm already tired of hearing about them. If it's something that causes moderate to major damage is one thing, but the run of the mill stuff is just your everyday type of operating in the real world. Hell, we had the 1522 on the ground a couple of times at the museum and nobody ran around with their hair on fire. We just rerailed her and went on with our business. The derailmanet at North St. Louis on the wye was a whole different story. |

The derailmanet at North St. Louis on the wye was a whole different story. There are minor derailments everyday in the yards on the major class one "super" freight systems. One difference is in our industry, and the short lines try to improve things, on the class one's all they want to do is blame the operating crew. If you blame the track crew they'll go out and spend money fixing the problems. You're right rerail the equipment and get on with the show. |

Jason, glad to hear it was minor and that operations have not been affected. I'm sure this weekend will be a successful one for HVRM and FWRHS. Rob Gardner |

based on the info here, no, that was a train derailment, cars checked, removed, and running resumed. Apparently 765 was running light here probably hit some track not often used, running I am sure at low speed you can stop on a dime if wheels decide to go the other way. |
