The CRRM located in Golden, Colorado, just outside Denver, has received two standard guage passenger cars in the past two weeks. The museum doesn't have rail access so the cars were trucked from Denver's Burnham Yard to the museum, where a crane then unloaded them onto three rail track. (It's not often you see four ng diesels switching sg cars onto a turntable.) The first car is former Rio Grande Ski Train/RGZ/Prospector, baggage/coach combine #1231. The interior has been gutted, but will look great behind the RGZ F-units that we have. The second is the former RGZ backup diner 1116. (Ex-U.P.) It's largely intact, will be restored and moved from its present location by the roundhouse up next to the main building where it will be used for fundraising events. I've never posted photos here, so we'll see if this works. Jim Barton Volunteer CRRM

Great photos Jim. And great news that your museum has a couple more worthy exhibits. Now.... any plans for a tunnel motor? Wes |

The museum does have an ex D&RGW SD-40T2 tunnel motor. It is stored off site at the Coors brewery awaiting the funds to move and display. The storage site is about a mile from the museum but it will have to be moved by truck. It is alledged to be in running condition. |

Great to see these cars saved. I wondered what their status was. Too bad CZ/RGZ diner "Silver Banquet" was scrapped. If the issues that the car had were discovered before it went to Amtrak, perhaps the D&RGW might have donated it to CRRM instead. |
