Does anyone know the date and location of the first US roundhouse? I understand that some early 4-5 stall buildings used switches rather than turntables; I'm looking for info on the first "real" roundhouse served by a table.

Darn good question. The B&O built several fully-enclosed roundhouses with turntables quite early (at least as early as the 1840s). But the very first--I've never seen a citation or a claim for that.
