Over the last few weeks, through playing a handful of my video games, i've noticed something that has impressed me. Many of the games that I play have the old locomotives very accurately portrayed. In the game Fallout: New Vegas, the F-units of the Barstow Express, which are scattered throughout the "wasteland", are in a modified Northern Pacific scheme, and every detail is correct. there is also Mafia II, which shows F units, a modified Frisco 1522, and Milwaukee A-class atlantics very well, but with minor detail inaccuracies (late freight style trucks on the coaches, SD-40 style trucks on the F-units, and the rear wheels of the A-class being coupled, and lacking external valve gear). This showcases how the railroad has been embedded in the public conciseness, and has at least inspired some sort of detail in video games, whether just as a background, or a major portion of the locale in a story. Things like seeing Frisco 1522 could help spread the image of many famous steam locomotives, as seen by Frisco 1522 in Mafia II.
To show some of these, here are some videos I found on youtube showing the examples. I'll also link pictures to make it easier.
