Hi,

Just saw Transformers 3 (great sfx, worth it to see in IMAX 3D). One long sequence is at the old Packard plant in Detroit with at least 3 passenger cars strewn about. anyone have an ID on their history and ther post-filming fate?

Rob,

Looking at the pictures in the link you provided they are ex LIRR P72 cars. I don't know where they came from or what happened to them afterward though.

My guess is that they were heading to the scrap heap (i saw the movie friday), so Bay picked them up while filming at a cheap cost to act as props.

Yes - ex-LIRR P72's, yes, used as props, yes, cut up as scrap post shoot.
