I had not previously heard of this organisation- not that that means anything-. Do you have a collection of ALCo products (locomotives, autos, army tanks etc.) or is this museum to be a library type exhibit with photo records and employee info etc? Wes |

Guess they are a start-up group. They've got a building, and are working on fundraising for construction of exhibits, and ALCo library, and other pieces for a collection. I think they should be commended for their efforts thus far! |

I think they should be commended for their efforts thus far! It will take years before they raise enough money to have anything to show. The building will need major work including HAVC, public restrooms, Insulation, plumbing, electrical work, etc , The locomotives they plan to acquire will take thousands of dollars to move and fix to make them presentable. They will also need track work in and around the building. The exhibits will need display cases , lighting. Its just the tip of the iceberg. Their big dreams does not have any substance, no business plan.It will cost them $1M to do everything at a minimum. Frankly, I think that they need to put the grand opening back about 5 years. If they survive that long.... |

I am happy to report that the ALCO heritage museum open house went off without a hitch today with nearly one hundred visitors filtering through during the day. I would like to personally thank those who attended and especially those who volunteered for making the day a success. It is good to see the public support for preservation the history of ALCO through this project. If you missed stopping in today there will be more opportunities in the near future. Next up is our pig roast on August 14th. Then our fist annual ALCO Gala in September. More on these to come later. Matt G. Vice President AH&TS |
