I haven't seen or heard anything of this little engine for several years and wondered what's going on with it? If I remember a ton of money had gone into it and it never got finished. I can't even remember the name of the operation.

You are referring to Big South Fork Scenic Railway, and some messages in the last month refer to it.

That's it. I had a senior moment and couldn't remember the name of the road. Thanks.

I believe Wasatch Railroad Contractors just announced they would be working on it soon.

Well, it's in excellent hands if John's Wasatch is finishing the job. Good to know that it will get finished in good fashion.
As far as operating folks, as it nears completion that problem can be dealt with. John is a good trainer and has some good folks on his crew who can help there.
Sounds like it's been a bit of a mess until now.

I have learned that Wasatch has placed Steve Lee (ex-Union Pacific) in charge as project director. A target date of July 4, 2013 for completion. Mr. Lee is very competent, but this is still a challenge to meet that date. Current photos at http://www.bsfsry.com.

As far as I can tell, these were current about 8 years ago. Are there any photos that are really current?
I have the greatest confidence in Wasatch, John Rimmasch and Steve Lee. It sounds like they have a good workng relationship with the railroad and will make sure that qualified people will be involved. In other words, it's in good hands.

Nothing of note has happened during the 8 years. Photos generally reflect current status. I'm sure Mr. Lee will bring his normal level of expertise to the project.

There is at least one person that works for Big South Fork that has first hand expierence operating steam locomotives. So there are qualified and expierence people already in place to operate the engine.
