Not trying to start a war here, a "why isn't this being done" thread or "why haven't they done this yet?" argument.

I had a nice 2 day visit last weekend. Baldwin 26 is getting there, but atleast a year off, 3717 doesn't look like there has been much of any progress. It was nice seeing some of the machines being rebuilt in the shop as well. Photos later on or tomorrow.

Outside, all the equipment has been vastly consolidated. Most of the wooden stuff being shoved behind the shops, and the others condensed on a few tracks. It seems most of the wooden stuff is simply dangerous at this point, in danger of collapsing on itself. Are they intending to start disposal of some? I know money can save anything, but alot of this stuff is just way, way to far gone.

Also out in the yard it seems as though a major trackwork blitz is in progress. I dont know if this is Steamtown work, or Delaware Lackawanna work, but it looks great. Brand new switches, rail, ties, etc.

Here I thought you were going to say "Why haven't they restored a 2-8-0 to operation?"

I'll be the first one to admit the 3713 doesn't LOOK much farther along than it has, but a lot of work is taking place off site via a contract with Diversified Rail Services that will see the firebox largely completed by years end.

Some photos and more information can be found at our website www.project3713.com

I do admit, the progress that's been made is better than nothing at all! My health teacher, "Bobby" Nelson's grandfather ran the Boston and Maine P4 Pacifics between Boston and Portland. With school only a few weeks away, I can ask him more, like what his grandfather's name was (I was mind-boggled that he recognized the picture of 3713 I showed him).
