Greetings, I am working on a project where it would be extremely helpful to have original builder's structural drawings for passenger cars built by Pullman, ACF, and St. Louis Car Co. circa the 1950s and 60s. I am aware of the Pullman archives, but can anyone point me to someone or someplace that would have that data for the other builders? Thanks... |

The St. Louis Mercantile Library has many passenger car drawings and technical specifications from the ACF archives. You will need to reference the Lot numbers of the cars you want information on when ordering. |

I was under the impression that the National Museum of Transport, now a St. Louis County park, is also the repository for a lot of ACF drawings. I also recall hearing that they laid off their archivist a couple years ago due to budget constraints, so I don't know how accessible the collection is at the moment. |

The Museum of Transportation would be the best source of ACF drawings for the period you mention. The Barriger Railroad Library would have the specification data for each lot of cars and photos, but the drawings went to MOT. The general ones have been indexed and copies can be ordered. It would be best if you knew the specific lot number for the cars you were interested in but it only saves time as they can be located by road number and date built. |

Thanks for the help everyone. I checked out the Mercantile Library and they didn't seem to have what I was looking for, but I spoke with someone at the St. Louis MOT who is going to be looking through their collection of drawings and will hopefully hit pay dirt. Cheers, |
