On Tuesday, August 16, 2011 while driving westbound on I-80 west of Grantsville, Utah I saw something very interesting headed eastbound on I-80. Three Modesto & Empire Traction GE 70-ton locomotives on heavy-duty trailers. They were complete with trucks.

Unfortunately, there was no practical way to turn around so no photos and I couldn’t catch the numbers.

Does anyone know where they are headed?

They've been purchased for service by Mobil Grain of Saskatchewan. MET 600 has been retained by the railroad, and No. 613 recently went to the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum.
