On Tuesday, August 16, 2011 while driving westbound on I-80 west of Grantsville, Utah I saw something very interesting headed eastbound on I-80. Three Modesto & Empire Traction GE 70-ton locomotives on heavy-duty trailers. They were complete with trucks. Unfortunately, there was no practical way to turn around so no photos and I couldn’t catch the numbers. Does anyone know where they are headed? |

They've been purchased for service by Mobil Grain of Saskatchewan. MET 600 has been retained by the railroad, and No. 613 recently went to the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum. Walt L. |
