Gerhard, for awhile, was chairman of the Rockhill Trolley Museum. Under his watch, the museum advanced in administration and operating procedures. I was happy to have known him.

Being the youngest son of Gerhard Salomon I was delighted to hear about this article being prepared. Even with the errors, it was an interesting article.

As was mentioned, my father was a long-time member of the Rockhill Trolley Museum and going there as a kid obviously fueled my interest in trolleys and preservation. I heard many stories as a kid of the many experiences that my dad was able to have while railfanning and operating the trolleys that the LVT had. Things were certainly different back then! It is also fascinating to trace the Liberty Bell line and imagine what it was like to ride the line. It must have been quite a trip!

We have two active members at the museum that were also on the last run of the Liberty Bell Limited along with my father. While going through my dad’s collection of things after he had passed away, (in 2007, not 2002 as indicated) I found many interesting things. One piece was a handwritten note made by Jack Mowbray and Jerry Deily (the two members of the museum) listing the times that the last trip with car 1006, went through the stations, both southbound and northbound, and any unusual circumstances that occurred along the way.

It must have really been a sad day for fans of the Lehigh Valley Transit Co and the Liberty Bell Line to learn about the last ride. I can not imagine what it would have been like to ride that last trip knowing that riding the 1000’s or 700’s to Norristown would never be possible again. Fortunately my father and others took many pictures of the LVT and movie films as well. A volunteer at our museum (Joe Lance) has been producing DVD’s using portions of the over 8,500 feet of movie film my father took of the LVT and Liberty Bell Limited trolleys and interurban operations. Three DVD’s have been produced so far. Yes, that’s a plug, proceeds go to the museum.

Salomon Jewelers, the jewelry store that the article and Robert Yuill mentioned is still in business; owned by my cousin Rick and his wife Linda. At one time the store operated by by my father and his brother Erich were authorized watch inspectors of the Reading and Jersey Central Railroads.

Hard to believe it is 60 years since the last run.
