This sounds like it is a former Reading car. Being turned into a restaurant is almost guaranteed to be the kiss of death for a passenger car. Not today, not tomorrow, but down the road. I guess it's better than cutting her up today. |

There exceptions to the kiss of death rule: The wooden coach at the Yankee Silversmith Inn in CT and the R&N business car that was in "The Station" hotel complex in Wilkes-Barre PA come to mind. Any others? |

Looks like a Reading coach, certainly not from "The" Crusader. Not the rarest bird around. As for passenger cars (not counting trolleys) that have survived service as restaurants... Dave mentioned 2 winners... L&NE #100 made it out, though it is not really restored or in long-term preservation. CNJ/DL&W #99 made it out of Pittsburgh (though me thinks it was a display, not a dining room). FEC "Rockliegh" also made it out of Wilkes-Barre's depot entertainment complex. There are several more in restaurants around the northeast that are currently for sale... Rob |

Our two companies Batavia & Ohio Railway Services, LLC and Ozark Rail Logistics have been working with the new owner concerning this car. Scott Gordon the owner of "The Works" has done his homework concerning this car and the display track for it. If it wasn't for Scott the car most likely would of been scrapped in the next year or two. Scott owns a very succesful business/resturaunt and has a plan in place concerning the re-hab of the car to make it part of his business. The whole community is looking forward to this car being part of his resturaunt. When we had the the I&O deliver the car on a flat car at 2:30am in Loveland, OH there was over 100 local residents there to watch us unload the car. |

There's also the New Haven Copper-clad coach that is used as a buffet room at the Steaming Tender in Palmer. That's been there well before I've gone, so maybe it got there before the opening? |

Tom, it looks to me to be an old CNJ Coach. The trucks and more than 3 vents on each side of the Roof are sort of a dead give away to their non Reading lineage but "Gettysburg Reincarnated" named the car Crusader in homage to the line's Reading history...I don't think they ever implied it was a Crusader Coach, but rather the brokerage firm selling the GR equipment listed it the same, but as usual, people only read what they want to see. Junior, I think you are rigjt. Looking at the images on something bigger than my phone, the trucks are more like the CNJ 1300's which are a pretty neat class of cars. They were a staple of eastern tourist railroads and are now the backbone of the Vermont Railway fleet.
