Can anyone recommend a wheel stop to be used to prevent cars and locomotives from travelling further down the track once parked- one which is easy to remove and replace, perhaps lighter of weight than another, for tracks sizes 60 pounds to 90 pounds? Thanks. I saw those. A bit expensive. I'm thinking that someone has a pile of these in the "back 40" and would like to sell them cheap. "I intend to live forever.... so far, so good." |

You make it sound like you want something temporary, and movable. You might want to look at wheel chocks (dedicated ones, not pieces of crushed pallet) or rail skates. The rail skates have the advantage that they can't be removed by the public if you place them on the rail, then push the car up on the tongue before uncoupling. I would suspect that a second chain between pairs of chocks would allow them to be locked around the wheel; then again a loop of chain just locked around the wheel does pretty much the same thing. We use rail skates as a safety device where necessary to park equipment on steep grades without derail protection and on locomotives which tend to have weak handbrakes. The locomotive skates are shop fabricated and are slightly lower profile than the commercial products to clear brake rigging and sander hoses. Alan Maples Everett Railroad |

We use skates also. The car blocks will work. Need to park a string of cars against them for longer time storage. Thanks. |
