We at the Quakertown Train Station Historical Society (PA) are in need of an Union News Co. news stand sign for our recreated news stand. This stand, resplendent in Reading Company cream and chocolate brown complements our restored 1902 P&R station, it is used for serving food at our various events. We would like to borrow a sign or locate photo's, drawings or dimensions for making a sign. any information would be appreciated.

I hope I am able to present this information so that you can see it. I hope to show you a photo in the McClung Collection of the Knox County Library. It shows the news stand in the L&N Railroad depot in Knoxville, Tennessee. If you notice The words "News Stand" seem to be reverse painted on the glass over the window.

Thanks T7 for sharing that photo, unfortunately, not what I'm looking for. What I'm looking for would have been possibly an enamel or porcelain over steel sign for outdoor use. Not sure of the size used but believe it may have been blue with white lettering.
Anyone else care to dive in? Is there an archive for what was the corporate Union News Company? An internet search proves futile.

There is an old Union News Co. matchbox for sale on EBay (item 380378328287).

Could its artwork be used as a pattern for a sign? It is white on blue background.

You may want to check with the Quakertown Historical Society, I seem to recollect someone removing that sign many years ago for them.

Thanks for the lead, I'll check that out. BTW, I'm now President of QTSHS. Thanks to all others for your help, I'm truly amazed at the number of items for UNCo on eBay. I also now know to use "The" in a search for Union News Company!

Don, If you are still looking for a Union News Stand sign, I may be able to help. I have a metal sign, 5 1/4 X 30 1/4, black background (I think) with cream colored "The Union News Company" spelled out in script. Sign has seen better days and will need some work to restore it. Let me know if it is what you are looking for and I'll send you some pictures!

Dear RLN, sorry did not get back to you earlier, been away from the computer, I have had a lot going on the past couple days, too many irons in the fire.
