I have to admit to being a traditionalist (translation--I think she belongs in black)--but I won't complain, not when another engine painted yellow with a blue cat showed what main line steam was like, and not if this helps keep 614 in repair, and perhaps one day helps bring her to run on home rails again. To which I must say, congratulations, glad it looks like everyone enjoyed what they were doing! How many of us get to enjoy work today? How many of us feel our work is really worth something? Since we are talking about paint and color, is there any chance of an artist's rendition of what the cars and diesels are supposed to look like being made available? Alternately, if it is desired to keep this under wraps for now, that's OK, too. |

I'm a traditionalist to but WOW she looks GREAT! I seem to recall the earliest locomotives were oftentimes elaborately painted, and the common black was simply a matter of economy, I believe this is a time when aesthetics are valued. CD |

Sorry to be such a party pooper, but couldn't we at least "photoshopped" in the main rods? Other than that, I think she looks grand. Perhaps a little "tarted up" as the Brits might say, but as I remember Dolly Parton quoting her dad - "any old barn looks better with a little red paint on it". But lets go ahead and reset the main rods if possible. Putting on my helmet and flak vest.... |

She's a babe. I can't help but believe such an elegant locomotive, particularly one bearing such a high level of Steam technology, is simply waiting for her call to the main stage. |

Now to hijack this thread....:) Here's a link to what Chris McBride is working on this week. Our N&W GP30 522, which is being repainted for an upcoming NS company photo shoot using historic diesels. http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?fb ... =1&theater Chris is also going to be doing the painting on BC&G 14 in Gaithersburg, as part of Steam Operations Corporation's cosmetic restoration of that locomotive. Chris will also be painting CW Baldwin DS4-4-660 #662 for us, and probably one of our N&W coaches as well. |
