DW (dear/darling wife) and I visited Dollywood on September 12. Hat's off to the Dollywood Railroad team for a fine operation. WPY 192 looks and sounds great pulling the train up that hill. And a special thanks to Dollywood management for underwriting the cost of real steam on their railroad. Wesley |

Amen. My visit this July was awesome. One of their friendly crew showed me the shop also. |

Were you around all day with a video camera? I was with some other friends visiting the park yesterday as well. Hi, Jim. |

Jim, No video camera on this trip. We rode the 4 p.m. train, and made several trips on the Thunderhead roller coaster during the day. One of the things I liked about the train was having it running in the background as we walked around the park. Wesley |

I ran one and only trip that day, at 4 o'clock. There were some guys from the D&S on the second car that same trip. Small world. |

Nice whistle work at the loop at the end of the line. What a great ride for a park train! Wesley |

It's a great place, period. There's something there to entertain almost anyone. They used to have cab rides and had a padded seat on the tender for that very thing, you could just go up to the gate at the water tour and ask to be put on the list. Did that when we went in 2005 and LOVED it. I have been told they have since stopped doing that? |

Many years ago, before VCR's became common, Dolly Parton had a TV show, and I remember one program where she sang "City of New Orleans" while riding the footboard on a slowly-moving steam locomotive. She looked quite fetching in her custom-made cutoff bib overalls. From time to time I look on YouTube for this performance, but it hasn't turned up yet. |

Just ran across this video posted today by someone else who was visiting the park on the 12th. Fairly well done, too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9w_wR_drDk The run with the headlight burning is the 4:00 PM trip which you rode. You may see us during a run by shot at the crossing above the gristmill in the first car, about 5:45 into the video. |

Hey John... Are ya'll still having the bearing issues with 192? Was there at the end of July and they were soaking various ones between runs. Going back in late October...any chance 70 will be out again? Thanks, Tyler |

70 just came out over the weekend after some throttle work kept it down for awhile. 192 was re-trammed and hopefully this winter we can get into some more in depth work with the boxes and rod tram. You'll have to ask about the 70 running when it gets closer to your visit, there is not a set schedule for engine service days. |
