Post subject:  ERIE Chemung NY Depot faces questionable future

The Chemung Valley Railway Historical Society has been notified that the former Erie Railroad depot in Chemung, NY faces a questionable future. It presently resides on Norfolk Southern property and has to be moved to another site, or will be gone soon.
CVRHS has proposed moving the building, which is very intact and in good shape to Elmira (still in "Chemung" county) where it would serve as our museum building and have a few original Erie cars parked outside of it.

The building is owned by a local family and it sits on railroad property. Their lease on the land with NS expires October 1st, but a possible extension might be granted if a definite plan is in place very soon. I will keep everyone updated on the status of this. This depot would make an ideal museum for CVRHS and it would be incredibly unfortunate if it is lost.

If anyone has someone they know in the building moving business, please contact me. No donations are being asked for as of the moment, though if someone wants to help, let me know and I will contact you if we are able to make this happen...
