I hope to see this, if this trailer is any indication.

We have such amazing cinematic possibilities; it is crazy, at least to me, that Hollywood fails to take advantage of both the stories and the images period railroading can offer.

I'm putting this on my list of things to see. Generally, the IMAX documentaries (that I've seen) are very well written and have a storyline that is easy to follow. I wonder if this will be played at the Boston Museum of Science's IMAX theater...

Is the "wheel" apparent in the video the throttle for Canadian steam?

The wheel is the manual adjustment of the screw reverser. There is an air motor to allow for large adjustments.

Anyone know any more about the new series starting next month, I think, on AMC called "Hell on Wheels"? Looks like a 19th century drama on railroad construction...

Interesting that the last link notes photography is in Calgary, which leads to a question--who can identify the steam locomotive in the clips? She's standard gauge, a 2-6-0, obviously small, but from where?

Saw this movie this past Saturday at the Museum of Science & Industry in Chicago. Very well done. Obviously, it is aimed at the general audience, but still very well done. The photography was well done as well. It is worth a vist to your local Science Museum/IMAX/OmniMax cinema near you.
