Calling all B&O experts...

I need assistance, please, in helping to identify this piece and where it was used. I've heard locomotive, passenger car, office, etc., but all were speculation. If someone knows I would love to hear what you have to say. Piece is ~14" in diameter. Thanks in advance.

All of the above.

The B&O had these all over the place, quite commonplace on locomotives (steam and diesel), and possibly elsewhere.

The B&O Historical Society magazine The Sentinel had to devote most of an entire issue to the manufacture, use of, and variations of the basic B&O logo such as this--solid plate, this kind of ring, rings with projecting mounting legs, plates bent with a crease for mounting on Baldwin "Shark" noses, etc.; brass or iron; etc.

I dunno...depending on where you live, it might not last out the week attached to your front door!

Add front of the RDCs to the list of places for these icons.

The B&O RDC's had the logos, yes, but in the form of solid cast brass plaques rather than these ring forms.
