Does anyone have a good spare or surplus Waukesha propane line Rego shutoff valve for sale or trade? This is the heavy-duty brass diaphragm valve located in the propane line between the Waukesha tank "pigtail" hose and the regulator. We'd be glad to buy a whole Waukesha propane plumbing jungle (or two) and part it out as needed.

Niles Canyon Railway http://www.ncry.org needs one of these valves for S.P. 1975 "All Day Lunch". The old valve diaphragm is worn out and leaks. I haven't been able to find a source of new diaphragms. We use the propane stove extensively on the "Train of Lights" to heat hot cocoa and hot spiced apple cider. We'd prefer to not modify the car unless there is no safe alternative.

S.P. 1975 was built in 1911 as a "Harriman" class 60-C-5 (60') coach. The small dining-car-style kitchen was added in 1933 when when it was converted to a News Agent / coach.

Stove? I was hoping Ice Engine!

S.P. 1975 "All Day Lunch" was air conditioned in the late 1930s with ice-bunker A/C, so no Waukesha ice engine needed... just lots of 300 lb ice cakes in the below-the-carbody ice bunkers, a brine pump & plumbing, heat exchanger, ductwork, double windows (two separate openable sashes: inner & outer), and a ductwork fan. All the A/C equipment is all still on the car, although it hasn't been used in ~60 years. The Northern California coastal weather (morning overcast, sunny mid-day, cool marine air blowing west in the afternoon) in Niles Canyon rarely gets hot enough to need A/C an openable-window car.
